By Kate RadojkovicThe task of street photography is not to convey and testify to the truth of the event. It suggests insight, it criticizes reality, even ridicules it. Above all, I urge to enact through my lens the beauty. I see in things themselves. This kind of photography might mirror the society, the situation and the place, but it would never be imprisoned by the reputation or by the style. It does not necessarily testify to the truth, but suggests an insight into some truth. And all that through the eye of the artist. The absolute freedom of individuality; Thus street photography becomes a critic of society in its own way. In my opinion it’s bringing it closer to a poetic and artistic way of communicating life, and emphasizes the subjectivity. I tried to characterize my photographs by a common, almost sentimental line, mostly a black and white depiction of an urbanized environment and a modern but isolated as well as alienated person in such an environment. I asked myself some basic questions about street photography, that is, I tried to explain myself first, because that I enjoy analysing and focusing on so much. For me, personally, the most appealing is a certain minimalism, brutalism as well, in general I am very interested in architecture. I also like to catch a mix of portraits and street photos. Street photography is, therefore, a photograph taken on the street, or a photograph taken in a public place of streets, parks, shops, public meetings, perhaps anything that draws my attention and catches my eye. The main feature of street photography is the capture of the moment, and the situations that are unrepeatable, the honesty, the unfocused frame. It is quite similar to documentary photography, and it is an art form. The street photography is, I repeat, art! Comments are closed.
