By Kate RadojkovicThe task of street photography is not to convey and testify to the truth of the event. It suggests insight, it criticizes reality, even ridicules it. Above all, I urge to enact through my lens the beauty. I see in things themselves. This kind of photography might mirror the society, the situation and the place, but it would never be imprisoned by the reputation or by the style. It does not necessarily testify to the truth, but suggests an insight into some truth. And all that through the eye of the artist. The absolute freedom of individuality; Thus street photography becomes a critic of society in its own way. In my opinion it’s bringing it closer to a poetic and artistic way of communicating life, and emphasizes the subjectivity. I tried to characterize my photographs by a common, almost sentimental line, mostly a black and white depiction of an urbanized environment and a modern but isolated as well as alienated person in such an environment. I’ve been thinking about a lot of things lately, first of all life in general, and a few thoughts kept nagging. I guess, one starts to re-examine what and how corona virus started circulating in the community and assessed its potential impact… This newly formed situation, brings that unrest; what could have been happened, but it didn’t. I made at least a thousand idiotic (mis)assumptions based from subconscious biases. We can’t doubt the idea that the very clever can also be very silly. I’m not a motivational speaker nor do I like those things, but there are so many things that are almost beyond anybody’s control that can totally mess your chance up… Or there might… Some days I wonder what the hell I’m doing, why I’m making my life so hard… Obviously, to breakthrough my own monotony. The Green Line is a 180 kilometer-long (112 miles) stretch of land that divides the island of Cyprus and its capital city of Nicosia. It was created as a demilitarized zone or a buffer, if you prefer, between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot controlled areas of Cyprus after Turkey invaded the Mediterranean island back in 1974. Here, lies an unoccupied piece of land that seems to have been frozen in time. By Kate Radojkovic of Portion Control Being a professional footballer is the dream job for many and it's easy to see why, Ara Bedrossian have experienced that as International player and for the past years he had extended his career as a Coach to set up drills in training. We asked Ara former Fulham star, now Head Coach of Liverpool FC International Academy Cyprus and Head Football Coach of Grammar School Nicosia, to answer five questions . What is your training schedule like at work? My training schedule starts early in the morning 8.15 till 9,30am at the grammar school, working with very exceptional and elite players/students from teams like Apoel, Omonia etc. age groups of 12 to 16 years old. Beliefs are, that we get the faces we deserve by the time we hit middle age. Many women can thank their genes for that youthful glow, but every woman can be made to look gorgeous provided she takes care of her lifestyle routine as well as the beauty routine. We are constantly under siege by the offers of all sorts of treatments, ranging from creams to serums, Botox and variety of filler works. Excerpt from upcoming article in this week's edition of newspaper "H MAXH" edition of 2nd May 2020. "Conventional wisdom sucks up everything around us. Your environment and the ways in which others communicate with us play a big role. Both the negative and the positive can have an impact that will affect us for the rest of our life, unless we consciously decide to do something about it. By Catherine Radojkovic1. In this time when everyone is advised to stay home due to lock down and advised to maintain social distancing. What is your advice to people and how does Yoga help? Yoga is a self-care tool and is being practiced by people all over the world today, but in today's scenario where everyone is going through stress related to uncertainty, anticipation, and fear, yoga can help fortify body and minds boosting our immune system and safeguarding us against corona virus. Daily practice of yoga with meditation brings a much needed balance to the nervous system, reinforces the respiratory system, induces release of feel good hormones, conditioning of lungs, stimulating the lymphatic system, releasing the toxins from the body. We all have our little Zen zone of the day, when we try to disconnect from the daily drill through the working hours for at least 20 minutes. I have personally found my small oasis in one boutique kiosk in the main street of Nicosia, in Makarios Avenue, where I enjoy a cup of ice coffee, while peeking at my little black MAC bag with some new nude lipstick content. And while the ritual begins, brain unwinding, a dose of daydreaming, slightly all descending into another level of relaxed consciousness…. Ideally, improving and keeping youthful appearance and high level of energy, you think - regular training, supplements, cosmetic procedures and oxygen will put you on a fast track toward upgraded version of yourself. The modern-day person is slightly obsessed with proper nutrition, which is not an accident. Scientists and doctors increasingly publicly discuss what foodstuff and groceries are beneficial for health and which ones are harmful to our bodies, therefore should be avoided by all means. Vegan diet: Salvation or sacrifice? Excerpt from my upcoming article. "I don’t want to scare off any future vegans or people considering to follow this diet but in most countries and here in Cyprus it’s quite a task. Very first thought and question that flash you out is whether this diet and the lifestyle is expensive and complicated. In my opinion there are two types of vegans: "those who are for moral reasons and those who are for health reasons." Those who are vegan for health, mostly upper class, buy expensive products without which one can. There is some moral elitism, in the sense that people condemn, but I think it is counterproductive. Honestly, if you can't make it, then avoid talking about it." |Radojkovic| Tattoos are like windows to where have we been mentally and physically , who we are or who we want to be and what we hold on to. They are more than the things we buy and things we wear. A tattoo tells a story, or at least that should be the very right reason why do we get them. *My tattoo by Constantinos POW, SINS &SIGNS* |
