By Kate Radojkovic of Portion Control Being a professional footballer is the dream job for many and it's easy to see why, Ara Bedrossian have experienced that as International player and for the past years he had extended his career as a Coach to set up drills in training. We asked Ara former Fulham star, now Head Coach of Liverpool FC International Academy Cyprus and Head Football Coach of Grammar School Nicosia, to answer five questions . What is your training schedule like at work? My training schedule starts early in the morning 8.15 till 9,30am at the grammar school, working with very exceptional and elite players/students from teams like Apoel, Omonia etc. age groups of 12 to 16 years old. In the afternoons my schedule is Monday to Friday 3.30pm-5pm at GSP stadium for 5 to 12 year old players. From 6.15pm-7.45pm the 13 to 16 year old players train 3 to 4 times a week. The second venue is situated at the municipality athletic center Strovolos. The schedule there is again Monday to Friday 3.30pm till 6.15pm. My position is to supervise both venues training sessions and keep communication with the parents.
Do you have a favorite team uniform? My favorite team shirt is Liverpool I have supported them since little If you were not a footballer, then what would you liked to be? If I wasn’t a footballer I would like to have been a tennis player as my father was a tennis player and champion of Cyprus for 20 to 25 years. My mother was a hairdresser so I had a chance to be a barber too but sports is in my gene. Whom do you consider the best football player right now? Best footballer at this moment for me is Sadio Mane for Liverpool. He works very hard for his team and has a big impact in the game. Who is the sports icon that has influenced you the most? My icon would be Johan Cruyff. I had the chance to meet him after the match in which I was playing for Cyprus against Holland in 1987 in the group qualification match at the Rotterdam stadium. He was definitely someone who I admired as a footballer and as a coach he changed the whole look on the game with his total football approach. Comments are closed.
